4. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept, deny or choose which kinds we use. You can change your choice at any time with the “Manage consent” tab at the bottom right of every page.

  • Necessary — always on. These run the basket, checkout, login, security and your cookie choice.
  • Statistics — only with your consent. Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit, so we can improve the site.
  • Marketing — only with your consent. The Facebook Pixel measures our ads and may show you our products on Facebook and Instagram.

Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie, what it does and how long it lasts.

5. Your data during a repair

Phones, tablets and computers hold photos, messages and accounts. When you leave a device with us:

  • We only access what the repair needs, such as checking the screen, camera, speakers or charging. We do not open your photos, messages, email or apps.
  • We ask for your passcode only when a repair cannot be tested without it. You can choose to remove it or switch on your phone’s repair or maintenance mode instead. We note the passcode on your job and delete it when you collect the device.
  • We do not copy or keep your files, except where you ask for data recovery or a transfer. Any copy is deleted once you have confirmed you received your data, and no later than 30 days after collection.
  • Devices are stored securely in the shop while in our care.
  • If we come across material we are legally required to report, we will pass it to An Garda Síochána.

We recommend backing up your device and signing out of accounts you can before handing it in.

6. Transfers, security and children

  • Transfers outside the EEA. Some of our providers, such as Google, Meta, Stripe and Automattic, may process data in the United States. They do so under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU’s standard contractual clauses, which require the same level of protection as in Ireland.
  • Security. The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our server. Access to customer records is limited to us, and our accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
  • Children. Our shop is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. A parent or guardian should place orders or book repairs for them.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted, unless we must keep it, for example sales records for tax;
  • restrict or object to how we use it, including stopping marketing at any time;
  • receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to another business;
  • withdraw consent at any time, for example through the cookie banner or the unsubscribe link in our emails.

To use any of these rights, email shop@joestechhelp.ie. It is free, and we will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28.

Changes. We will update this policy when our services or the law change, and show the new date below.
